View on leginfo.ca.gov(a)In adopting standards of aid for general assistance for the indigent and dependent poor of the county or city and county, the board of supervisors or the agency authorized by the county charter may determine, with regard to any person who is not a citizen or national of the United States whose entry into the United States has been sponsored by an individual who, or an organization which, executed an affidavit of support or similar agreement with respect to the person and who has become ineligible for assistance pursuant to Section 11008.135, that the person who is not a citizen or national of the United States is ineligible for aid for a period of five years after the person’s entry into the United States, unless (1) the person is a minor and the sponsor, or the sponsor’s spouse, is the parent of the person’s child or (2) the sponsoring person dies or the sponsoring organization ceases to exist.
(b)This section shall not apply with respect to any person who is not a citizen or a national of the United States who is:
(1)Admitted to the United States as a result of the application, prior to April 1, 1980, of the provisions of Section 1153 (c) of Title 8 of the United States Code.
