View on leginfo.ca.gov(a)Notwithstanding any other law, the Monterey-Salinas Transit District, created pursuant to Part 17 (commencing with Section 106000) of Division 10 of the Public Utilities Code, may impose a transactions and use tax for the support of its transportation services in accordance with Section 106060 of the Public Utilities Code at a rate of no more than 0.25 percent that would, in combination with all taxes imposed in accordance with Part 1.6 (commencing with Section 7251), exceed the limit established in Section 7251.1, if all of the following requirements are met:
(1)The district adopts an ordinance proposing the transactions and use tax by an affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the board of directors.
(2)The ordinance proposing the transactions and use tax is submitted to the electorate and is approved by the voters voting on the ordinance pursuant to Article XIIIC of the California Constitution.
