Notice Of Motion To Seal Medical Records
Matter on the Law & Motion / Discovery calendar for Monday, September 29, 2025, Line 2. PLAINTIFF RYSON SUN A MINOR, BY AND THROUGH HIS GUARDIAN AD LITEM, SYLVESTER SUN's Motion To Seal Medical Records. Continued for further hearing to October 27, 2025, as discussed herein.
The court is inclined to grant the unopposed motion to seal medical records, and to make the findings required by Rule of Court 2.550, subdivision (d), as to all medical records of Ryson Sun that are currently in the public register of actions, but the court requires further information from the moving party about where the records are located. In addition, moving party must supply a redacted version of the relevant filings for the court's public register of actions. The court has identified medical records that it is inclined to seal in the March 6, 2014 petition to approve compromise of pending action, but it requires moving party to submit a proposed redacted version that redacts the medical records.
Moving party also makes reference to medical records contained in the May 22, 2014 order of the court approving the compromise, but the court has identified no such medical records in that order.
The court continues the motion for hearing to October 27, 2025. By nine court days in advance of the continued hearing date, plaintiff shall submit a supplemental brief or declaration attaching the proposed redacted filings, with a courtesy copy to the court.
