Notice Of Hearing On Petition For Approval For Transfer Of Payment Rights
SF Superior Court - Law & Motion / Discovery Dept 301 - CPF25519393 - December 18, 2025 Hearing date: December 18, 2025 Case number: CPF25519393 Case title: IN RE: J.G. WENTWORTH ORIGINATIONS LLC Case Number: | | CPF25519393 | Case Title: | | IN RE: J.G. WENTWORTH ORIGINATIONS LLC | Court Date: | | 2025-12-18 09:00 AM | Calendar Matter: | | Notice Of Hearing On Petition For Approval For Transfer Of Payment Rights | Rulings: | | On the Law and Motion/Discovery calendar for December 18, 2025, line 10.
PETITIONER J.G. WENTWORTH ORIGINATIONS LLC'S Petition For Approval For Transfer Of Payment Rights. The unopposed petition for approval for transfer of payment rights is denied. For reasons similar to those reflected in the court's order of December 2, 2025, concerning DRB Capital's request for approval of a similar transfer, the court does not have satisfactory proof that the proposed transfer is in the payee's best interests.
The payment to be sold is due in just under two years from an insurance company. Petitioner identifies the payment as having a present value of $40,552.29 and proposes to pay Wallace $28,414.36, equivalent to a 23.99% interest rate (after translating the future payment into present value). But there appears to be very little risk with this transaction and the court has no information about alternatives that are available to Wallace. The court also notes that this is a higher interest rate on a smaller payment sale than the proposed sale the court rejected in In re Malaysia Wallace, CPF-25-519300, the case petitioner identifies as related. (See Order Denying Petition, CPF-25-519300, Oct. 2, 2025.) It is not clear why the transaction has become riskier for petitioner since the court's October ruling.
