Ruling

CASE NUMBER: 26PG-0033257 This matter is on calendar for further proceedings on a Petition for Appointment of Guardian of the Person. The Petition was filed by the minors’ grandmother, Amy Rodgers. Letters of Temporary Guardianship were requested but denied pending hearing.

Based on the declaration filed on May 29, 2026, the Court will dispense with notice to the paternal grandfather. A declaration was filed on May 29, 2026, which states that the siblings Johnae and Johnia are the same person. Proof of service has been filed for the sibling, Johnae. The Court notes that the father has consented to the guardianship and waived notice. The matter has been properly noticed. No objections have been raised. ICWA notification has been given and no tribe has requested to intervene in this matter.

The Court has reviewed and considered the Court Investigator’s report filed on March 24, 2026, which states that the investigation did not establish a sufficient basis to support guardianship. In light of the

report, the Court appoints private counsel to represent the minors pursuant to Probate Code Section 1470. The matter is continued to Monday, July 20, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 42 for confirmation of counsel and setting of an evidentiary hearing. No appearance is necessary on today’s calendar.
